My Reflection - Estrella G

My Reflection Blogpost

For this Project, I wrote the introductions to all three groups. With three different groups and different themes, I was able to learn and observe a lot in all groups. I was able to see how the groups interacted with each other and how they problem solved between themselves. All three projects were very unique. The first group used canvas which allowed for very nice transitions and pictures. The second the third used google slides which added an organized look to their projects and even aesthetics with images correlating to their theme.

Group One : Chapter 3 - Intercultural Communication

In the first groups presentation, We learn about culture and its effect on communication. More importantly:

  • The similarities and differences of different cultures
  • Barriers that affect communication between cultures.
  • Dominant and co-cultures
  • Many more topics…

This group did a great job in staying on topic and being organized. They spoke with confidence and even added some humor to their projects. The images and transitions in their presentation made it very nice to look at. They paced themselves very nicely and their words flowed with easy transitions between team members. Out of the classroom, they worked together to find times that all the team was together so they can make sure their project was perfect. They also provided real world examples. These examples helped to illustrate the concepts being discussed, such as culture, values, dominant cultures, and cultural identity. These relatable examples brought the material to life and made the theoretical aspects of the chapter easier to understand. Ultimately, their project was very well-reasearched and they worked great together.

Group Two : Chapter 9 - Communication in Groups

In the second group presentation, We learn about communicating in groups. More importantly:

  • Strategies to use in a group
  • Different types of groups
  • What makes a healthy group
  • Many more…

What I personally liked about this group was their ability to be there for each other. Nobody felt like they were alone in presenting because they were all very close when it came to presenting their project. They added a lot of pictures that helped explain their theme and even added their own tv shows and situations as examples in their slides. I believe that for future presentations the group could benefit from practicing together more so that everyone can present more confidently and naturally. All in all, the group maintained a supportive atmosphere throughout, offering encouragement to those who struggled. This positive dynamic helped create a sense of camaraderie among the group members.

Group Three : Chapter 10- Group Leadership and Problem Solving

In the third group presentation, We learn about group leadership and problem solving. More importantly:

  • Ways to run an effective meeting
  • The six steps of systematic problem solving
  • The functions of shared leadership
  • Group communication
  • And more…

This final presentation was particularly engaging, as it explored the role of leadership in group dynamics and the problem-solving processes that effective leaders use. The group presented clear, straightforward information about the various types of leadership and decision-making strategies, and they also addressed the ethical considerations involved in leadership roles. Although the presentation was aesthetically pleasing, the group could have worked better as a team. The communication was not there as a team. Other than that, they researched very well and even provided great examples to their slides. What i particularly liked was an insert of a tv show to show how a good group works together.

In Conclusion:

I had a great time looking at how these different groups worked together to create great projects. It allowed me to leave all the chapters and engage with the groups and how they were feeling. They all did great jobs in delivering their themes and i think i can say for everyone that this made it so much easier to digest all this information than sitting there and reading a chapter one by one. I hope to have as a great experience as i did with this first project in all the projects coming forward.
