My Learning Experience: Class Presentations

Gerald Zerpa   Professor Sinkoff   SPC 1017   2/4/2025      My Learning Experience: Class Presentations     During class presentations I learned a bit from our fellow classmates who stepped up to present. Overall, it was more about the information recalled than information learned. Sometimes in life, even if things seem the most obvious to us, we must have a little refresher every once in a while, to not lose track of what skills are necessary for success, especially those in the field of communication.     In my group's chapter 3 presentation, after coming up with examples that would be the most relatable to our general audience, gave me a little eye opener on how different we, Hispanic people, are from the average population in the United States. Some things that are considered normal to us, might be quite abstract to the outside view, which is important to know when interacting with others, since knowing treat people plays a...

Reflection on group presentations-Erika Rodriguez

Reflection on Group Presentations Introduction Group presentations are always an interesting experience because they give us a chance to see how different people approach learning and teaching. Over the past few sessions, we had three group presentations that covered essential communication topics. In this blog post, I will evaluate and analyze the three group presentations that were conducted in class. My group, Group 1, presented Chapter 3 on Intercultural Communication, Group 2 covered Chapter 9 on Communicating in Groups, and Group 3 presented Chapter 10 on Group Leadership and Problem Solving. Each presentation offered valuable insights, and in this reflection, I’ll discuss what stood out, what I learned, and what could have been improved. Reflection on Group 1’s Presentation: Intercultural Communication Being part of Group 1, I had the opportunity to deeply explore the topic of Intercultural Communication. Preparing for this was an eye-opening experience because, even thoug...

Reflections on Our Group Presentations: Intercultural Communication, Group Dynamics, and Leadership

Last week, our class came together to present on three crucial chapters from our communication course: Intercultural Communication, Communicating in Groups, and Group Leadership and Problem Solving. I had the privilege of being a part of Group One, and I must say, it was a captivating and social experience that highlighted the importance of collaboration, diverse perspectives, and effective leadership.  I enjoyed working with my group with this project because everyone was able to do their part efficiently and present their part of the slides for the presentations. Even though we were the first group to present with a week to do this project, we all collectively had our own roles and communicated daily to update each other on our progress for the finishing touches. This really helped our group become comfortable to socialize amongst ourselves to strive for an A. Group One: Intercultural Communication Our group was tasked with presenting on Intercultural Communication (Chapter 3...

Presentation Overview

Elizabeth Duque-Estrada Chapters 3, 9 , and 10 Presentations Overview  All three presentations primarily focused on communications in groups. How different cultures affect the way we communicate or how certain people could perceive certain things, as well as problem solving and leadership. Let's start off with my group's presentation, focusing on Chapter 3: Intercultural Communications. Intercultural communication refers to communication between individuals across different cultures. This chapter emphasizes the need to develop an understanding of culture and to apply it with sensitivity towards effective communication. Some key concepts discussed here are cultural dimensions such as individualism/collectivism and high-context/low-context communication. Individualism and collectivism explore how people perceive their relationship with society. In such cultures, there is a valued independence and emphasis on personal goals. The individual's identity is often defined by one...

My Reflection : Group Presentations

Group Communication and Persuasion   Sarah Carmenates Words are powerful. Words can create relationships, build bridges, spark revolutions, start or end a war, win an election, and many more. It all depends on the choice and context. When the right words are used in an appropriate context, they can bring positive outcomes such as resolving a conflict, building a meaningful relationship, or even bringing some healing to the sick. Over the past few weeks, I have often found myself reflecting on the last two presentations, one on effective group communication and the other on persuasive speaking. Even though the presentations seem different, they intertwine to bring up the key message, the power of words and effective communication.      The first presentation was mainly about effective communication as the main element that keeps a group healthy. We all belong to groups. The groups range from school study groups and work teams, which are structured formally into ...

My Reflection Blogpost                 For this Project, I wrote the introductions to all three groups. With three different groups and different themes, I was able to learn and observe a lot in all groups. I was able to see how the groups interacted with each other and how they problem solved between themselves. All three projects were very unique. The first group used canvas which allowed for very nice transitions and pictures. The second the third used google slides which added an organized look to their projects and even aesthetics with images correlating to their theme. Group One : Chapter 3 - Intercultural Communication In the first groups presentation, We learn about culture and its effect on communication. More importantly: The similarities and differences of different cultures Barriers that affect communication between cultures.  Dominant and co-cultures  Many more topics… This gr...
