Group 3 focused on the link between financial stress and mental health, which stresses the importante of affordable healthcare. Group 2 on the other hand, addressed the difficulties families face, such as the modern work-life balance, and the impact of technology within those areas. Group 1 focused on the relationship between happiness, and education and potential careers.      To begin with, group 3 emphasized the usefulness of various aspects of communication in the workplace,...

Blog Post #2: What We Learned from Each Other’s Presentations By: Erika Rodriguez The past few weeks of class were actually pretty eye-opening. Each group tackled a different angle of communication, family life, or career planning, and somehow, all the topics connected in really meaningful ways. Here’s a little recap of what went down with Group 3, Group 2, and my group—Group  Group 3:(Chapters 4, 13, 14, 11) Group 3 gave us a deep dive into the “how” of communication—how we see and understand others (Chapter 4), how to organize our thoughts (Chapter 11), and how to bring that message to life with style and delivery (Chapters 13 and 14). They made it clear that it’s not just about saying the right words—it’s about saying them in a way people actually hear and feel. Their tips on public speaking and picking the right topic were super helpful, especially for anyone who’s ever felt nervous about presenting (so… all of us). Group 2:(Chapters 5, 15, 17) Group 2 focused on how fami...

These issues were very interesting to think about, and they each provided us with relevant information regarding problems which many of us face in our daily lives. The presentations served to enhance my understanding of these issues as well as provided me...

Gabriela Gomez  03/20/2025 Professor Sinkoff Analysis on the following presentations: Education & Careers, Social life & Families, and Economy & Mental Health. When analyzing presentations, I always consider clarity in the content I’m being shown, the engagement and organization, and how well the groups are able to work with each other to achieve a common goal. In this case I was able to work within all three groups which also gave a better view of the topics I just mentioned, and of course have different opinions on every one of them.    Starting with group 1, I believe that their presentation stood out for its well organized structure and clear focus on education, communication and careen pathways. The group did a great job connecting these themes with real world applications, particularly in discussing self perception, interpersonal skills and active listening. One of my favorite aspects was their exploration of how MDC supports students, which gave t...

Brayan J. Castillo Lorenzo Miami Dade Collage "Happiness All Around" 💙 Recently I had the opportunity to hear several group presentations that were part of our project called “Happiness All Around”. Each group discussed issues that were very relevant to today's society and to day-to-day life. I was enriched and reflective through the exercise as each of the presentations offered a window to reflect on issues that we find ourselves with and solutions that we can all aim to have as a society. Today I would like to present some of my thoughts regarding two issues that struck me: mental health and family. These two topics fascinated me since even though they are traditionally addressed in isolation from one another, they have a lot to do with one another. We live in an era that is dictated by the rhythm of life, obligations, and societal pressure that influence us in numerous ways. Mental health and family constitute an integral component of our well-being, particularly ...

My Learning Experience: Class Presentations

Gerald Zerpa   Professor Sinkoff   SPC 1017   2/4/2025      My Learning Experience: Class Presentations     During class presentations I learned a bit from our fellow classmates who stepped up to present. Overall, it was more about the information recalled than information learned. Sometimes in life, even if things seem the most obvious to us, we must have a little refresher every once in a while, to not lose track of what skills are necessary for success, especially those in the field of communication.     In my group's chapter 3 presentation, after coming up with examples that would be the most relatable to our general audience, gave me a little eye opener on how different we, Hispanic people, are from the average population in the United States. Some things that are considered normal to us, might be quite abstract to the outside view, which is important to know when interacting with others, since knowing treat people plays a...
